Throughout my photographic journey, I met a lot of new people along te way. Some became friends, others just left me with a warm heart and satisfied smile upon my face. A happy memory. Shooting portraits, quickly became a way to connect with strangers. Have interesting conversations that often left me with new perspectives. Just as looking through my lens showed me new ways to look at people. To perceive them differently.
While shooting I always ask my models to wear as little as they feel comfortable in. Leave the heavy make-up and big hair. Creating these intimate images, focusing mainly on the movement of the body, skin textures and face expressions. It all came very naturally, from wanting to provide a safe space. A space where you could really be yourself. Timeless, raw and honest. A space where we create together. Play with light, shadow and elements of the earth. A space where we have fun. To catch your uniqueness and authenticity, in it’s purest form. To approach yourself light-hearted, with softness and acceptance of what is. I think it’s the most precious thing about photography; making people feel good about themselves. To really make them feel seen.

Because some of my portraits contain a little nudity here and there I feel obligated to normalize being naked and see it as a basic human experience in stead of something sexualized by society. It’s a delicate form of art. Something we should be celebrating, taking care of and not feel ashamed about. With these portraits, I hope you’ll look at your body as one of your tools to communicate with, a way of expressing your feelings and emotions. The physical side of your very existence. Your home. Something we should all be proud of.
